Developing West Australian sailor Zac Littlewood has extended his fine recent form, jumping into fifth position half way through the 12-race Laser Radial World Championships at Medemblik in the Netherlands.

Fresh from securing second place in the U17 category at the Youth World Championships, the 16-year-old from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club grabbed a fourth and third in races five and six to climb from 10th in the 12 knot breeze after two days of light winds.

In the women’s division, Mara Stransky is in 33rd after commanding attention the previous day with a second and first, while Rio Olympian Ashley Stoddart is 50th. Zoe Thomson is 56th, Marlena Berzins 69th and Elyse Ainsworth 70th.

Meanwhile, at the 470 Class Japan National Championships, recently-crowned World Champions Mat Belcher and Will Ryan finished fourth, and Chris Charlwood and Josh Dawson came 21st.

In the women's fleet Sophie McIntosh and Orla Mullholland-Patterson were the best placed Aussies in 14th, with Dana Tavener and Katherine Shannon one spot behind. See full results here.

There was no racing at the Finn U23 Silver Cup World Championships in Hungary, where Jock Calvert is 27th and Lewis Brake 29th.
