Zac Littlewood - aged just 16 - is within reach of a remarkable win after another display of mature and skillful racing at the Laser Radial World Championship at Medemblik in the Netherlands.

The youngster from Perth scored a first and second overnight to slot solidly into third place behind Maxime Mazard of France and Poland’s five-time World Champion Marcin Rudawski.

Littlewood’s bullet came after he rounded the windward mark in fourth but worked his way into a significant lead by the final downwind.

Two races are scheduled for tonight, Australian time, in the 12-race regatta, with Littlewood carrying all the momentum. Regular updates here

Meanwhile, at the Finn Silver Cup U23 World Championship in Hungary, developing sailors Jock Calvert and Lewis Brake are placed 25th and 28th, respectively, after only one race was possible due to light winds. Facundo Olezza of Argentina holds a 13-point advantage at the top, ahead of US sailor Luke Muller.
